The Artists bio
I graduated from the Glasgow School of Art Painting and Printmaking department in 2008, winning the inaugural Steven Campbell Hunt Medal for Poetic Creativity, the School of Fine Art Dissertation Prize, and the British Airways travel bursary. In my most recent body of work, I have become interested in portraiture and nude painting. I work mainly in oil on canvas, but for my more expressive life studies I use a variety of other media, including chalk and charcoal, acrylic and spray paint.
I blog at https://clairepatersonartist.wordpress.com , where I detail the work I am doing for my recently awarded Steven Campbell New York Scholarship, a project that’s being funded by The Saltire Society, Creative Scotland, and The Steven Campbell Trust. I’ll be using the scholarship to undertake a 3 month residency at the International Studio and Curatorial Programme (ISCP) in New York, where I’ll have the opportunity to work alongside dozens of artists from all over the world.
