The Artists bio
George Lockharts’ style is indebted to late nineteenth century landscape and twentieth century portraiture. Views of countryside and of village together with still-life suggest long engagement with the works of Monet, Van Gogh, Pissaro and Sisley and the Scottish Colourists.
Georges’ boldy conceived portrait heads also suggest an admiration for early Picasso.
Favouring acrylic but also working in oils, his palette offers an attractive colour range which provides vivacity and strength.
George has had considerable experience exhibiting in ayrshire and his practice benefits from working under Tom Rennie at Dunure.
George Lockhart is a member of Open Studios Ayrshire; and association of Artists and Crafts people based in Ayrshire. He has exhibited regularly at Dunure Artists Exhibitions.
