The Artists bio
I paint in oil and acrylics but have recently been exploring guache.
I am inspired buy the action of sunlight and shade on everything around me, seeing beauty in every day places and environments. I enjoy painting scenes which include people enjoying life in cafes, market squares and street scenes in France and Italy. Still lifes and Scottish seascapes are also a constant source of inspiration because of the transformation of changing light and shade on the appearance of form and colour.
I work mostly in my studio from sketches and photographs which are used initially as reference material. I try to express myself through my personal take on colour and emphasising the beauty that first inspired me about the scene. I have attended Glasgow School of Art and also believe that the learning process is a way of life, especially where my art is concerned.
This has been my second year with OSA and I have found the whole experience exciting and enjoyable.
