I have always believed that my future lay, in some capacity, in the expressive arts
The Artists bio
I was born in Kilwinning and have spent my adult life in Saltcoats. From a young age I showed some artistic ability. I’m a painter and decorator to trade but have found the lack of challenge in that unfulfilling. I have always believed that my future lay, in some capacity, in the expressive arts. I was an employee at Centrestage Communities working as a project leader on a wide range of projects. There were some limited opportunities for expression in this but it put me into contact with other like-minded individuals who I have been working with creatively ever since. I am training in tattoo artistry amongst other things.
My life has taken me in unexpected directions and decisions I have made have interupted my progress. Consequently, I have paid a debt to society but have used this experience positively, as far as possible, as a springboard to find my true calling. I am currently working through a plan to develop my business and my work will soon be accessible on all social media platforms. I am also creating a website with a view to exposing my work to a wider audience. I have completed, and am currently engaged in, commissions for my portraits and that is the main thrust of my current work. My portraits, often done in monochrome, are mainly of friends, family, clients and people better known. The work shows my passion for sound draughtsmanship and form.
In the future I am looking to extend my work to the local landscape and will inject more colour into my work. I anticipate further exhibitions and I have a steady stream of commissions to complete.
