Elizabeth loves colour in every part of her life from clothes and accessories – and her hair – to home furnishings and especially in her garden where she gets lots of her inspiration; she endlessly photographs her flowers, loves to visit open gardens and is particularly fond of Dumfries House estate.
Elizabeth is a semi abstract artist who began painting in 2018, three years after retiring from a 40+ year career in local government.
Elizabeth considers herself to have been incredibly lucky to have travelled around the Far East which reinforced her passion for those cultures and which also strongly influences her work. She often uses texture and bold colours and while she uses a range of media, her greatest loves are watercolour and inks.
If Elizabeth is not painting or gardening, she likes nothing more than spending time with her husband, wider family and friends, which often involves eating out; to counter the effects of that, she trains twice a week to stay fit and practices yoga.
Elizabeth started painting as a hobby and maybe just to prove to her old art teacher that she could! While she is thrilled to be selling her work, the peace and enjoyment that she gets from creating is what matters most.
