‘Ceramics is a precarious, elusive and exciting beast and it’s addictive. Clay offers a medium through which I explore the tension between fragility and resilience.
Drawn to organic textures, weathered surfaces, and irregular forms, I embrace the unpredictability of the kiln, allowing fire, glaze, and mineral to collaborate in shaping the final outcome.
This current body of work is the culmination and development of five years experimentation with glazes and forms which Covid lockdown allowed me to indulge myself in. It explores the intersection of utility and sculpture. I aim to create tactile forms, inviting touch and presence — pieces that are as much about feeling as they are about function.
Working with clay grounds me and reminds me of the quiet beauty found in the imperfect.
