I am an Artist and Poet, living in the South Aysrshire village of Crosshill.
I was born and educated in the mining town of Cumnock, Ayrshire. I am a graduate of Glasgow School of Art, where I studied drawing and painting under the tutelage of Duncan Shanks and Sandy Moffat.
I taught art in Ayrshire Secondary Schools from 1982-2014 when I retired to focus on my own creativity. I enjoy walking and travelling, gaining inspiration from the Scottish Landscape.
The majority of my work is executed in pen; pastel and oil paint, and I try to combine light / colour effects with poetic composition, allowing one art form to feed off another.
My poetry sometimes happens in conjunction with my visual art and I am due to publish a book of drawings and poems on Amazon Kindle.
To date I have exhibited paintings in Edinburgh RSA;Glasgow Compass;Irvine HAC and Girvan McKechnie Insitute with various groups including influential Ayrshire Artists, William Strachan and Martin Berwick.
In poetry, I have won the Robin Whyte Memorial Prize for creative writing and have published two books; A Sunfall of Rainshine and Stars and Fireflies.
