Caroline is a homegrown artist, born and based in Irvine. She studied Art & Design at Glasgow College of Building & Printing, but as with many people, life got in the way of her dream of pursuing a creative career.
Caroline’s passion for all things artistic has never wavered and after 28 years, picked up her brushes again in 2018, while working part-time.
Working from her home ‘studio’ her practice takes inspiration from Scotland’s characterful coastline and countryside. Throughout the year you will often find her seeking further creative ideas, while on adventures with her husband and dog in their motorhome, Betsy. Scottish scenery is always a draw, and Caroline loves nothing more than capturing a stunning sky or dramatic seascape.
Painting with acrylics is a newfound love and with the use of her favourite palette knife, enjoys exploring the textures and qualities to create bold, colourful marks. Soft pastels are also a favourite medium, especially when combing the smooth texture of pastels with gouache underpaintings, for Caroline, it is the best of both worlds.
Caroline believes that everyone has a creative streak and hopes that through learning about her journey, she will inspire people to realise that they should be brave, have no regrets, and follow their dreams.
